Subic Freeport was the former naval base of the US. It has been turned into a sort of government and private businesses such as the Duty Free shops where imported goods can be bought. For the tourists, whether local or foreigners, there are hotels and inns that you can avail for accommodation. One is the Forest View that is like a big compound of houses that are rented. That is our usual place to stay in that mountain resort.

There is Zoobic in Subic Freeport that has wild animals plus live shows. It is one experience that is worth the cost of the ticket. The train ride inside will bring you to the savannah where wild animals are loose. The bird show is the best because it is always a hit with the children.

The Ocean Adventure Park is another attraction that you should not miss. For the sea lovers, you can swim with the dolphins for an additional fee. But for the ordinary ticket, there are live shows that would not fail to entertain you with the trained seals, dolphins and whales. The Ocean Adventure is one of a kind in the country.

Some more places to visit are the bat kingdom which is near the airport and also the monkey areas where live monkeys roam around. Just do not feed the monkeys for you might be arrested. There’s also the Treetop which is an adventure park beside another park that is a haven of birds.

Aside from the Duty Free shops inside the Freeport area, there are countless of restaurants and fast food outlets. If you miss shopping there are malls around that you can choose. Some souvenir items can be bought from the vendors outside the shops. They have handcrafted items and other things native to Zambales.

There is a museum there that has novelty things like the magic mirror and the garden maze. Sorry but I forgot the name. It is located on the road going to the Morong exit of the Subic Freeport. The entrance fee is minimal and you will surely enjoy the novelties like taking your selfie with a decapitated head.

The southern gate of the Subic Freeport is the exit to Morong town of Bataan. You can also take a short trip of 30 minutes to check on the beach resorts there. They have the best cashew nuts and some sweets being sold in the market. You can also take a look at the nuclear plant that was not used ever since it was constructed.
