    - Bedroom or Room is silid or kuwarto which was Spanish
    - Stairs or stair way is hagdanan
    - Door or doorway – pintuan
    - Door knob or lock is tarangkahan
    - Key to the door is susi ng pintuan

    Table is mesa or lamesa while chair is upuan.
    Light bulb is bumbilya while there is no Tagalog word for lampshade. Lampara is lamp and it refers only to the gas lamp.
    Curtain or drapes is kurtina.
    Cathedral is katedral, mosque is moske and temple is templo while church is simbahan or sambahan.

    Chapel is kapilya while a chaplet is bisita which is a synonym for the Tagalog of guest or visitor. The altar boy is called sakristan and the lay ministers are called ministro. Catholic churches have catechism in teaching religion which has no Tagalog word.

    Horse is kabayo and the pony is called bisiro. The mule or ass is called Asno but that is an archaic term already. For an animal, the male stud for breeding is generally called Barako and the female is called Inahin whether it is an animal or a bird.

    For the bedroom items, the blanket is Kumot while pillow is Unan and pillow case is Punda. The mattress is called kutson whatever type it is. The mirror or glass is simply Salamin that is also the word for eyeglasses. Bintana is the window and window sill is Pasimano which is a Spanish word.

    Electricity is called kuryente likewise with the power. The gun is Baril and bullet is Bala. The rifle is Riple while pistol is the same. The grenade is granada while there is no translation for bazooka although bomb is Bomba. Helmet has no direct translation although it can be called sumbrero like a hat.

    For the tools, hammer is martilyo and spade or shovel is called Pala. The saw is Lagare or Lagari and the pick ax is Piko. The gardener’s hoe is Asarol. Screw is turnilyo and pliers is Pla-is while there is not translation of screw driver which is also commonly understood. The hammered nail is Pako while the chisel if Pait (the same as the word for bitter). Wood plane is Katam.

    Manacles or handcuffs is called Posas and the baton or nightstick of the cop is Batuta while the badge is called Tsapa. The cop in the street is called Patrolman which is also an English word. Sergeant is Sarhento while Lieutenant is Tinyente or Tenyente and Captain is Kapitan.

    For some astronomy lessons, earth is Mundo as taken from the Spanish word while planet is Planeta. Star is Bituin and sun is Araw which is also the term for day. Meteor is Bulalakaw but there is no Tagalog for meteorite although some call it “tae ng bituin” which means manure of the star.

    Whatever kind of uniform is uniporme. Factory or plant or mill is Pabrika while machine is Makina although there are those who call it makinarya. The flag or banner is called Bandera but smaller ones are called Banderitas from the Spanish word. The trolley that is used to haul cargo is called kariton.
